The Last Spark of Hope

The Last Spark of Hope (Polish: W nich cała nadzieja, lit. 'All hope is in them') is a 2023 Polish post-apocalyptic science fiction drama film written and directed by Piotr Biedroń in his feature directorial debut. It stars Magdalena Wieczorek as Ewa, a woman who may be the last surviving human on Earth, and Jacek Beler as the voice of Artur, the artificially intelligent patrol robot that shares her isolated compound. Produced by Beata Pisula for K&K Selekt and financed under the Polish Film Institute's micro-budget scheme, the film was shot largely on a colliery spoil tip in Łaziska Górne in Silesia. It premiered at the Octopus Film Festival in August 2023, won the Silver Méliès for best feature at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, and took two awards at the 48th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. Galapagos Films released it in Polish cinemas on 24 November 2023, and Saban Films issued it on video on demand in the United States on 29 April 2025 under the English title.
